It will offer a solid grounding in phonetic theory, but the main emphasis will be on sharpening students' sensitivity to the sounds of language, and on actual practice, mainly through oral reading of the textbook. Each student will keep a pronunciation journal to record problem areas of pronunciation, and will be expected to take class notes on material not covered in the textbook. A significant portion of the work for this class will be done online independently. A test will usually be given after completing each chapter of the text to review and solidify the material covered, and there will be a weekly dictation, to sharpen listening and IPA transcription skills. Various written assignments will be given, including exercises from the text and class projects. zvj To learn about general phonetic principles; to learn how the sounds of English are produced and perceived, and to thereby improve one's English pronunciation and become better able to teach accurately pronounced English to others; to deepen understanding and appreciation of language and linguistic phenomena. zBl Please see Karen Chung's homepage at: HYPERLINK "http://homepage.ntu.edu.tw/~karchung/" http://homepage.ntu.edu.tw/~karchung/ b>~Uϑe_ Grades for the course will be based on class partic468<DFHV`blnpr & , ˸~rh_h_O~D~D9h0Qh0QOJQJh0Qh0QOJQJh0Qh7J5KHOJQJaJh0Qh0QQJh0Qh0QQJo(h0Qh0QOJQJo(h0Qh7J5KHOJQJaJ(h0Qh7J5B* CJOJQJaJphp(h0Qh7J5B* CJOJQJaJphp$h0Qh7J5B* CJOJaJphph0Qh7J5CJ(OJQJaJ(h0Qh7J5CJ(OJaJ(h0Qh7J5OJQJh0Qh7JOJQJ6Hr. : L P Z ~ U V xz8Fr r r |r t;r t;r t;r t;r |r |r |r |r X-r |r |r pr |r |r |r |1$gd7J dh1$gd7Jgd7J, . 6 8 : B D J Z z | ~ T V ƶƕn^N<.h0Q0JB*OJQJph"h0QB*CJOJQJaJo(phh0QB*CJOJQJaJphh0Q0JB*OJQJo(ph'hkD1h0Q0J5B*OJQJo(ph$hkD1h0Q0J5B*OJQJph(hkD1h0Q5B*CJOJQJaJphh0Qh0QOJQJo(h0Qh7J5KHOJQJaJh0Qh7J5KHOJQJaJh0Qh0QOJQJh0Qh7J5KHOJQJaJh0Qh7JKHOJQJaJ vxz8:ʸʔnʸ^HFU*h0Qh7J5KHOJQJaJmHnHuh0Qh0Q5KHOJQJaJ hG2h0Q0JCJOJQJaJ(jh0QB*CJOJQJUaJph"h1B*CJOJQJaJo(ph"h0QB*CJOJQJaJo(ph"h7JB*CJOJQJaJo(phh0QB*CJOJQJaJphh0Qh7J5KHOJQJaJ*h0Qh7J5KHOJQJaJmHnHuipation, written work and projects, oral presentations, dictations, chapter tests, a final exam, attendance, progress made, and attitude. .UCQQ[ ( z) S.c[ Ladefoged, Peter & Keith Johnson. 2011.
