課程概述

探討土木工程的「科技」、「作業」及「結構」與人類文明生、死、興、衰的關係，進而討論土木工程與世界永續發展之功能。
Begin with discussions on the relationships between civil engineering (the technologies, operations, structures) and the rise-and-decay & life-and-death of civilizations in history。Thus, discussions can then be lead to the function of civil engineering in sustainable development of the world.

課程目標

使學生了解：
「自然」、「文明」與「土木工程」的定義與範疇；
土木工程與古文明的生、死關鍵；
土木工程與自然的衝突、和諧之道；
土木工程與城市發展；
土木工程科技與世界的永續發展。
並且由學生從事：
一件土木工程的實地調查，開發個人的第一手知識。

Enable the students to learn
the definition and categories of Nature，Civilization，and Civil Engineering；
civil engineering and the life-and-death of lost civilizations；
the conflict and the harmony between civil engineering and nature；
the role of civil engineering in the development of cities；
the role of civil engineering technologies in sustainable development of the world。
And enable the students to develop first-hand knowledge through the field study of a civil engineering work。
